Youth Camp, Moving and More!

Mary, the kids and I arrived back home on Saturday afternoon from a week of speaking at a youth camp in Wisconsin. There is nothing quite like Camp Fairwood located in Westfield, WI. It’s by far the cleanest, friendliest, and most hospitable camp’s that I have ever visited. The camp staff is amazing, the food is incredible, and the kitchen always accommodating (especially awesome for a guy like myself with crazy dietary restrictions). Above all, God regularly chooses to use Camp Fairwood to reveal Himself to those whom He calls. Last week was of no exception.

Over the course of five days and nine chapel sessions, we explored how scripture tells the story of a God who is actively working to rescue and redeem His creation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. By the end of the week, 10 students came to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior for the first time. I was deeply moved by the vulnerability of these students, including those that tracked me down with tears in their eyes to say “thank you”, or those who shared their testimony around the bonfire on Friday night. Some of the students grew up in Christian homes and “were determined to believe” they were saved, but the Spirit revealed to them what it truly means to be a follower of Christ and used this week to rescue and redeem their souls, once and for all. In addition, there were countless other students, already professed believers, who were inspired and challenged in their faith through a renewed appreciation for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mary and I were truly blessed to be part of camp last week and to partner with an incredible staff and counselors for Christ and His Kingdom.

Counting the Days …

If you didn’t hear, we sold our house last month with being on the market for only 7 days! We are now 10 days away from moving out of our home in Grayslake. We’re sad to say goodbye to this home and community, but we know the Lord has been paving the way for our relocation to Lake Zurich. We’ve been preparing for the move by selling and giving away a number of personal items, clothes, and furniture. It feels good to downsize, restart, and focus on what’s most important in our lives.

This Week’s Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for our move. Pray for safety, diligence, time to pack, patience, and peace over our family.
  • Pray for the transition and pending close on our new home. We’re still working through the financing with a scheduled close on our new home on August 18. Pray all goes smoothly.
  • Pray the Lord will lead new potential core group members for Restoration Church our way in the coming months.
  • We are getting closer to our reaching our initial fundraising goal for the church planting residency with Reach Chicago! We are only $9,000 away from reaching our goal of $40,000 in support raised or committed by September 1. Please continue to pray that we reach and exceed our goal by the end August! If you would like to support us, you can do so by making a special gift or setup a monthly gift online at (fund: “Matt Till”).
