It was one year ago (July 4th to be exact) that we set foot into our soon-to-be new home in Lake Zurich. A lot has happened over the last 365 days. In one sense we’ve accomplished much, in another, we’re just getting started. But one thing is for sure, the mission remains the same.
July 2017 marked the beginning of what would become a very busy and challenging season that lasted through April and into early May of 2018. Needless to say, we were overdue for some intentional family bonding time. We were blessed to have taken back-to-back vacations in late May and June, one to visit with good friends of ours in South Florida and another to Wisconsin. In addition, we’ve also had periodic opportunities to relax with family visiting from out of town since the beginning of June.
The summer has been busy for us, but in a different kind of way. We are learning together as a family to live our lives on mission for the King and his Kingdom instead of ourselves. Transitions such as a new home, new schools, new relationships, new parks, and new routines provide challenging opportunities for us to grow. I can confidently say it has not been easy or always joyful, but the Lord continues to be with us.
REACH Chicago Fishing Trip
I’m thankful for the group of brothers and fellow pastors I get to lean into and share this journey of being part of a gospel-restorative movement with. These are men who love Jesus and are committed to the call of sharing Him with the world. We had an opportunity last week to encourage one another during an early morning fishing trip on Lake Michigan. As you can see, our families will be eating fresh fish for weeks to come!
Restoration Church continues to gather on Saturday nights
Our core team continues to meet on weekly on Saturday night’s at 5:30pm for a time of worship, teaching, prayer, and building community all summer long. Our “soft launch” as we called it back in May, continues to be an opportunity for us to stretch our legs and practice our faith together. One of our team members recently stated to me following a Saturday night gathering, “I love the relationships that are growing here and how cared for I feel.” I praise God for responses like these!
We welcome our supporters, guests, and those looking for a church home to come and be part of these weekly worship gatherings. Learn more and get directions at http://restorationlakezurich.org.
