What exactly does it mean to be a ‘born-again Christian’?
To be an Evangelical? A member of the Republican party? A Christian who wants bibles and prayer in every public classroom?
To be ‘born-again’ is in fact a biblical concept found in the Gospel of John, the focus of our teaching this week. It’s admittedly a term that has been overused, overstated, and unfortunately politicized and often filled with negative baggage. But there is still an important reality that every person must grapple with as it comes to what it means to be ‘born again’ according to Scripture. The implications are not about identity politics and religious-cultural leanings as it is about one’s position before God, His Kingdom, and where they belong today and forever.

Discipleship (the practice of following and living like Jesus) is both personal and communal. First, make time for personal reflection from this week’s teaching. Journal notes from the teaching, questions you were left with, and personal challenges. Then, join a gospel community. Discuss the material with others and put it into action by encouraging one another.
